How Pepperwood Got it’s Name
When our daughters were teenagers and beginning to spend more time out on their own, we created a family safe word—an easy, quiet way for them to signal if they ever felt uncomfortable or needed help. No explanations, no questions asked, just a promise that we would show up.
Around that time, we were watching New Girl, and a character named Julius Pepperwood inspired the word we eventually chose. “Pepperwood” became our family code—something a little playful, but rooted in trust and connection.
Over time, it grew into more than a word. It came to stand for what we want most for the people we love: to feel secure, supported, and never alone when it matters.
When we were choosing a name for our vacation home, we wanted it to capture that same feeling—being safe, cared for, and at ease the moment you arrive.
Pepperwood Place is named with intention, and we hope it carries that feeling for every guest: ease, comfort, and the sense that you can arrive, settle in, and immediately feel at home.
